About

'Palestine is Still The Issue'- this is the title of my blog because 1. It is the name of the documentary by John Pilger which pulled at my heart strings with such force and initiated my interest and involvement in the Palestine-Israel conflict. John Pilger is a great journalist and I have since watched all of his documentaries. The information he presents is accessible and straight to the point. It gets to the heart of the Palestine-Israel issue which drive the conflict without over-complicating the information, which, is easily and often done because it is a very complex situation with a complex history. This leads me on to point 2. Palestine is still the issue because, despite their being so many other global problems which may seem bigger and more important in terms of how many people they affect e.g. poverty, the environment, economic recession, this issue is an issue of freedom. Freedom for me is the ultimate human right- it is the basis of all articles the the UN declaration of Human Rights. The visit I took to Palestine in 2009 gave me an insight into the overriding, routine terror, day after day- this is the ruthless control of almost every aspect of their lives; they are living in an open prison and I want to do something about it- I can't not.
